Environmental Commodities - Commercial Analyst/Trader

Job Description

  • A commercial analyst/entry level trading position in the Renewable Credits (both RECs & RINs) markets, working as a central member in a fast paced team environment.
  • The role will involve interfacing externally with regulators, customers, brokers and traders and internally with project development, origination, operations and management.
  • A successful candidate must possess a strong commercial aptitude; duties will initially be administrative with trading authority given incrementally as candidate demonstrates capability.
  • This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Renewable Credit Trading.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the regulatory requirements of the various credit markets.
  • Analyze market fundamentals and identify potential trading opportunities.
  • Prepare responses to various RFPs.
  • Serve as a central point of contact with the Environmental commodity brokerage community; candidate must be able to develop effective relationships, monitor market movements and keep up with developments that are affecting or have the potential to impact prices.
  • Manage the day to day deal flow of trading books including end of day marks.
  • Identify arbitrage opportunities to generate incremental revenue.
  • Coordinate all REC/RIN deliveries with the Operations Team, looking to optimize the portfolio using risk, cash and income metrics.

Environmental Commodities - Sales Origination

Job Description

  • Originate opportunities in the Renewable Credit Markets (both RECs & RINs), generate new business from existing accounts, collect and analyze market data, and help identify trade opportunities.
  • The role will be primarily externally focused and will require a self starter who, working independently, can identify key decision makers within organizations and establish profitable relationships.
  • Compensation will be linked to results, though coordination with the trading desk will also be a key to the candidate’s success.

Responsibilities

  • Perform market analysis and commodity origination and execution within an assigned product line and/or for an assigned group of customers, while effectively communicating the company’s full product portfolio.

  • Inform trading team on important government decisions, amendments in legislation affecting business, and significant competitor activity.

  • Originate landfill gas (LFG) capture and flare, as well as LFG beneficial use projects (power, medium/ high BTU gas) at municipal and privately owned landfills
  • Coordinate proposal submission, interface with client relationships, and lead deal teams as necessary

Summary

Summary

EM Biogas, LLC is seeking a Senior Plant Engineer to oversee all engineering requirements for the Huckabay Ridge Renewable Gas facility, located near Stephenville, TX. EM Biogas, LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Element Markets, LLC the leading developer and marketer of renewable gas in North America. At Huckabay Ridge, raw manure and substrate (a mix of grease and other waste materials) are combined in large holding tanks (anaerobic digesters). These digesters produce raw biomethane which is then treated, compressed, transported and sold as renewable gas in the interstate markets. The Huckabay Ridge asset was recently purchased out of bankruptcy and will involve a great deal of engineering support to be brought back to profitable operation. Huckabay Ridge is one of the largest, most complex anaerobic digester operations in the world.

Job Description

The Senior Plant Engineer will be responsible for managing all engineering requirements at the Huckabay Ridge plant. Specific tasks include:

  • Work with plant personnel to identify and troubleshoot critical instrumentation, mechanical, electrical, and operational constraints within the plant
  • Provide technical expertise for the development, design and execution of capital, expense and maintenance projects in a safe, profitable, timely and efficient manner.
  • Perform engineering calculations, build economic evaluations, develop schedules, write scopes of work, procure materials, and execute construction contracts as necessary to ensure projects are implemented under budget and ahead of schedule
  • Perform cost tracking and status reporting for all projects
  • Develop a framework and oversee the implementation of new control systems and HMI
  • Act as a resource to provide technical support to Element Markets during the build-out of their biomethane strategy.

Skills

  • 10+ years of gas processing and project management experience
  • College degree in chemical, mechanical or related field
  • Good working knowledge of pumps, compression, hydraulics, amine treating, glycol dehydration, control systems, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices

Job Description

This position will have dual reporting responsibility to the Huckabay Ridge Plant Manager and the President of EM Biogas. Specific tasks will include:

  • Assess the condition of the Huckabay Ridge facility and develop an action plan for bringing the facility into safety and environmental compliance
  • Work with Engineering to identify and scope necessary capital projects
  • Work with Operations to evaluate current Operating Procedures and identify critical gaps
  • Work with Legal/Compliance to identify applicable OSHA, TCEQ and other regulations that will drive the overall plan
  • Lead a team consisting of Engineering and Operations personnel responsible for implementing the Safety and Environmental plan including the implementation of projects and revision of operating procedures
  • Oversee the implementation of a Process Safety Management program for the plant
  • Responsible for overall housekeeping, physical appearance, and accessibility within plant on an ongoing basis
  • Assist Plant Manager with the development of a preventative maintenance program
  • Set up and oversee ongoing training in the areas of safety, environmental compliance, and operations
  • Assist with troubleshooting operations issues as required on an gonging basis

Skills
